In what ways does your media product use, develop or challenge forms and conventions of real media products?
Representation of artist/setting and location
I have taken inspiration from the artists own music videos where they are set outdoors in natural scenery.

The theme of nature runs through lots of the artists videos, photo shoots etc making the theme of nature a brand identity of the artist that I wanted to follow. In my music video I use settings in fields, woods and country roads to keep up with this theme/identity of the artist.

Links between visual and track

In my music video I link the lyrics to the video subtly, one of Goodwins rules is linking the track to the video but because of the genre I didn’t want to make it obvious like
Costumes and props

The artists clothes are a laidback style with and indie edge so for my main character I followed with this style by having my main character wear jeans, hoodies and tops with logos on which show this laidback style.
I also got my main character to carry a bag to show he’s travelling away to keep with the narrative but not make everything obvious like what would be for example in a pop song.

Camerawork
I decided to just use a handheld camera without the tripod to get an idea that the audience themselves are in the video like they are watching it for themselves. I want to make the audience feel that they're seeing a story that the audience dont get to see in detail with their own eyes to relate more to the audience and make them feel invloved within the story. I took inspiration from the Plain White Tee's video for Hey There Delilah when the camera is following the girl around it is also filmed by hand because the picture is unsteady.

How narrative is indicated
I show the narrative by focusing on it by not having any performance, the lyrics link to the story in the video of going away which I show by following my main character on his own. I took inspiration from the Plain White T’s ‘hey there Delilah’ where in the video the camera follows his love. In my video we follow the main character as he travels away from his home and love

Music genre and how the video suggests it
The music genre is suggested in the slow pace of the cuts as its acoustic and the settings being set in natural scenery which as suggested before is a brand identity of the artist and stereo typical of the indie/acoustic genre. The laidback style of the clothing is stereotypical of the indie genre too like Frank Turner who has a similar style to Benjamin Francis Leftwhich and the same genre of indie/acoustic.

Special effects
For special effects I had the main characters shots in black and white to show his sadness like in Ed Sheerans ‘A Team’ however the other clips that are in memories I though I should make in colour to show theyre happier to the character than what he is now.

Digipack and advert
Representation of Artist/mise en scene of images
To keep a reltionship between the music video, digipack and advert I again took inspiration from the artists other videos and how he focus's on nature throughout his video by using mainly the setting. With my digipack i have used the photos of outdoors amongst trees and fields however i have given my own twist my changing the colour and lighting of the photos to show these bright green colours. I have used th same photo of the front of my digi pack with the magazine advert picture to keep them similar.

Costumes and props/ Genre and how your digipack represents it
I used a friend to represent the singer and dressed him in a dark top and jeans which is the same style of the artist. As the genre of the music is acoustic/indie I also had my actor carrying the guitar to represent the genre of the music and also I could use the guitar to create a laidback pose to again represent the artist and genre.

Genre and how your advert suggests it
Like my digipack frontcover i have used the same picture for my advert to keep the relationship between them visible to the audience. The picture of the natural scenery connotates the calm acoustic genre of the artist. Nature is used throughout his videos and is now part of his brand identity. With the brand identity of Benjamin Francis Leftwhich we also see the connotations from the picture.

Layout/written content
The layout of my magazine advert is similar to the one below however with my advert i have also added in score music magazines have given the album and the some quotes but still kept it simple but also add more advertisement for the album.

How effective is the combination of your main product and ancillary task?

How did you use media technologies in the construction and research of your planning and evaluation?

What have you learned from your audience feedback?

For my feedback I showed a screening of my music video on a projector with a number of classmates and after asked them questions, their thoughts on the video and wrote their comments down. Questions I asked was :

1.       In what ways does my video remind you of other music videos

2.       What do you think are the strengths of my music video?

3.       What do you think are the weaknesses?

For the first question some of the comments were

·         “Your music video reminds me of the artists other videos with the idea of being set outdoors and in natural settings”- Adam

·         “It reminds me of music videos that are set as a home video camera like Ellie Gouldings Your Song or Hey There Delilah by the plain White Tee's. I think it fits in well with the genre and song."-Marie

For the second question some of the comments were

·         “The narrative of the couple being apart and moving away links with the them from your digipacks and links to lyrics in the song by to subtly”-Marie

·         “The transitions of the fades link with the pace and mood of the song so it feels like it flows”-Ben

·         “I like the idea of the black and white effect when it’s the boy character going away shots and links to the lyrics and mood that he doesn’t want to go and feels sad. I also like the shots in colour to show the idea of happier memories and to show he was happy when he was with the girl character, It emphasises that they were together subtly, like the main character is thinking about her and the memories.”- Christine

·         “ Everything seems to be done subtly and not in your face which seems to help create this sad mood”- Joe

For the third question comments were

·         “You could have used more shots to edit out when the camera wasn’t very steady in other shots”-Christine

·         “Editing could have been tightened in places like the end of the song, a longer fade could have been used”Adam

·         “In some places the continuity isn’t as good for example the girl character looks like shes walking back on herself in certain shots and could have used transitions to make it look like shes walking away rather than walking back”- Joe

·         “Could have put more angles in of certain shots like when hes walking along the country road.”-Marie
